CHAO PHRAYA - The River of Life
Like the flow of a river, time proceeds only in one direction. You cannot jump back in time to look at history being made; you can only study of what remains in the present. As we look at the river flowing through Thailand, we can see that they not only inject life into the surrounding areas but also paint a clear picture from the beginning of history. As we look back at the history of the rivers, we can reflect back to use lesson learned from the past to build a better future. In Thailand, we have a river that flow through three capital cities of the three eras from the beginning of Thai history, that is the Chao Phraya River. The Chao Phraya River is the result of a confluence of four smaller rivers merging into an artery supporting the whole country. Early settlers of the reion typically located themselves along the fertile river banks since the river acted as the primary mean of transportations, trades and provide invaluable resources for agriculture. As the country developed, many events occured. Many place changed into something completely different, while other places still hold historic remnants from the past. However, one thing is consistent; lives, whether from the present or the past, still depend on this River of Life -- THE CHAO PHRAYA RIVER.
